"My Trip to the Philippines, Part Four

Whenever I travel I always try to do as much as possible, so the trips are productive, informative and fun.

On our last day in the Philippines, we visited a beautiful home garden filled with tropical plants. We toured the oldest Chinatown in the world and walked through one of its wet markets. We learned how to make traditional Filipino pandesal bread rolls from one of the country’s most distinguished bakers, and visited with a group of master designers of Filipino rattan furniture and accessories."

Isola by E. Murio

E. Murio’s new luxury collection of handcrafted wooden furniture

The ISOLA collection is marked by a return to traditional methods of woodworking. Carving, lathing and assembly is done by hand by our master craftsmen. This allows the natural attributes of our tropical hardwoods—the form, grain and luster—to come out in a way that no machine built furniture can match. Few other furniture makers have the time, passion, or knowhow to craft wood in this way.

The ISOLA collection marries E. Murio’s contemporary approach to design with traditional woodworking techniques. The result? Superbly detailed, handcrafted furniture that captures the essence of its materials.
